Feed Hope: A Meal That Keeps Children in School

In Haiti today, more than half of the country does not have enough to eat. Gangs cut the roads, markets close, and food prices keep climbing. For many families, feeding their children even once a day has become a struggle.

When a child is hungry, school becomes almost impossible. The words on the board blur, the body grows tired, and too many children simply stop coming.

That is why we started Feed Hope.

This school year, Feed Hope serves a hot meal five days a week to 887 children in five schools across Haiti: Garreau, Mirebalais, Croix-des-Bouquets, Cornillon and Maïssade. The meals are cooked at each school by local cooks, with food bought in Haiti and delivered by our team on the ground.

For many of these children, the plate they receive at school is the most reliable food of their day. It gives them the strength to listen, to learn and to come back tomorrow. It gives parents one more reason to keep their children in school, even in the hardest times.

Zamar Ministries has served in Haiti since 2006. Our Haitian staff, cooks and teachers live in these communities. When outside teams cannot travel, they keep the kitchens running and the classrooms open.

A meal is a simple thing. For a hungry child, it is the difference between giving up and showing up.

You can stand with these children today: give, pray for them, or share this post with someone who cares about Haiti.
