Projects
Since 2006, Zamar Ministries has served children and families in Haiti through local schools, churches and community care. All of our work is carried out by Haitian pastors, teachers and cooks who live in these communities.
Feed Hope: School Meals
Feed Hope serves a hot meal five days a week to 887 children in five schools: Garreau, Mirebalais, Croix-des-Bouquets, Cornillon and Maïssade. For many of these children, the school meal is the most reliable food of their day. Local cooks prepare every meal with food bought in Haiti.
Zamar Schools
Our schools began when Pastor Guerry Lefranc opened his home to teach the children of friends and neighbors. Today, five schools give children in Garreau, Mirebalais, Croix-des-Bouquets, Cornillon and Maïssade a place to learn, to be known by caring teachers, and to stay in class even in a hard year.
The Church in Haiti
Zamar began in July 2006 as a Bible study in Pastor Guerry Lefranc’s home. The group grew until the whole house became a church. Today, Zamar congregations worship, pray and serve their neighbors, and the church remains the heart of everything we do.
Clean Water
When the well ran dry after the 2016 hurricane, the ministry had to buy water every day for the children. In 2017, Zamar Ministries drilled a new well with manual and electric pumps, and our partners at One Ball One Village installed a water purification system. Today, children, families and neighbors come for clean water and hear about the love of Christ.
Caring for Orphans and Families
Children who lost their parents have found a home and a family at Zamar in Croix-des-Bouquets. Our community center supports parents and caregivers with food, counseling and spiritual care, and serves as a mobile clinic when volunteer doctors visit from the United States.
